Whether you&#8217;ve finished a short story, a novella, or a full-length novel, you should be proud of your accomplishment. But you <em>do <\/em>know the journey isn&#8217;t over, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next step is <strong>editing<\/strong>. Editing can be daunting. And tiring. And exciting! This is the stage where you cut and polish your prose into a sparkling work of art before sending it out into the world. This is an essential step for the serious writer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have a passion for helping writers improve their work. As an editor, I want to strengthen people&#8217;s stories, help make their characters and dialogue memorable, and sharpen their grammar. I would love to come alongside <strong>you<\/strong> to make your unique story as strong as possible. We&#8217;ll look at plot, structure, pacing, character development, and themes. This is the kind of editing needed after you go through a couple drafts, and it prepares your work for submission (if you&#8217;re going the traditional publishing route) or indie publication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>What I&#8217;m Offering: <\/strong>First, we&#8217;ll chat via video or phone call and discuss your piece to make sure we&#8217;re a good fit. I want to learn what you envision for your story and what you feel are your strengths and weaknesses, and I want to make sure you understand my editing style. Then I&#8217;ll read through your manuscript, providing comments, questions, and suggestions throughout. I&#8217;ll provide a summary letter touching on these areas: character development, pacing, dialogue, plot and structure, setting, and any other areas of concern. Once that&#8217;s complete, we&#8217;ll touch base once more to go over any questions you might have. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Investment\/Cost: <\/strong>$0.025 per word<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Timeline: <\/strong>This can vary widely and depends on the length and complexity of your manuscript, but anticipate anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Genres: <\/strong>I&#8217;m all about fantasy, whether high or low, epic or cozy. I&#8217;ll gladly look at any speculative story &#8211; science fiction, steampunk, and dystopian are welcome! Currently, I&#8217;m focused on fantasy for adult and YA audiences (I&#8217;m learning more about middle grade expectations, so that will be offered in the future!). I don&#8217;t mind some horror, violence, or language, but I will not read or edit erotica.
